Lemonade Day 9

September 14th, 2007 by bowaikit

I had almost nothing to do today, which was good and bad. Just a photo shoot for MUSE magazine in the afternoon. So things started out good with the salt water and breakfast, but after the shoot I was just tired and out of maple syrup. So I ended up drinking OJ the rest of the evening and sleeping. OJ is used to break the diet and prepare your stomach to eat regular food again. So that means I did not make the whole 10 days =(.

I am not upset though, 8.5 days still did quite a bit for me. And Sunday I will be so busy with work again that I am going to need the extra energy. So it’s back to regular exercise and more weight lifting. Still have some flab to lose, but I have to constantly change my attack plan in order to win!

Lemonade Day 8

September 13th, 2007 by bowaikit

The salt water rinse certainly did the job. Luckily I don’t have to work early for the next two days so I will be sure to keep flushing out the garbage.
However, today presented some interesting challenges. I had to make a social appearance at a bar opening. It was the new branch of CD Bar, formerly City Dancer a play I used to frequent 3-4 nights a week back when I first started drinking. I started out very good with just a big glass of warm water, but of course some friends managed to put some whiskey in that for me. But even before that I was 50/50 all day long about breaking the fast tomorrow. Especially after going to work from 1-3am. Hopefully after sleeping it off and an easy day tomorrow I will still have the resolve to finish the 10 days. Besides that, I still haven’t lost enough on my waist so if nothing else that is good enough reason to endure.

Lemonade Day 7

Entering the final days. I am no longer worried about side effects, everything I read before said that they would show up during the middle and I am past that. Although, there were some temptations to finish a couple of days early, I am still going to finish the 10.
The only concern I had today was no bowel movements. Supposed to have at least one every day. I guess most of the waste is going out through the urine, but you would think after burning energy there would still be something. So I am going to use the salt water rinse again tomorrow morning to see if that helps.

Lemonade Day 6

September 11th, 2007 by bowaikit

Well still no painful side effects. Just very spaced out. Even the runs stopped last night. But I think they came on especially strong after doing the salt water rinse in the morning.

However, I have become pretty skinny. There is still a bit of flab on my waste, but I have lost at least 3 inches already. I am going to check at work tomorrow. If it is finally down to 36 I might come off the diet early. However, I want to check online and check the book for signs that the detox is nearly finished. I have gone through this much, if I am not cleaned out yet then I will go the whole 10 days.

Lemonade Day 5

September 10th, 2007 by bowaikit

For most of the day I did pretty well. I even managed to survive a full 6star buffet in one scene. However, by the time I got home and the households around me were cooking dinner I was starting to get very weak. Then just as "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" came on and I was about ready to give in my gf called me up and saved me. We chatted for an hour and by that time my hunger pangs had passed and I went to sleep.

Still no pain, but since the middle of day 4 only liquid is coming out my backside. Guess that’s normal since only liquid is going in.

Lemonade Day 4

September 9th, 2007 by bowaikit

Well so far still nothing too drastic. I made it through a full day of work, made plenty of juice to get me through the day. I still have the constant spaced out feeling, but I’ve had that for the last month when I started cutting carbs out of my diet (it’s just slightly increased now). I guess I can count myself lucky that I have not had any of the painful side effects. Also, I made it through another day without smoking! Hopefully that will continue.

Lemonade Day 3

September 8th, 2007 by bowaikit

Ok the first 3 easy days are over. It’s is supposed to get painful after today. We’ll see!
I finished off my last pack of smokes today, and will be too busy for the next coming week to be bored and want to smoke. Also, I managed to go swimming for a solid hour. Very good exercise! But by the time I got home I was very low on power, especially coming back from Kennedy Town leaving my keys in the house to go buy lemons, then going back to Sheung Wan and back home again.
Now is the morning of the 4th day and so far I am not feeling any of the pain. I do remember reading that the pain comes from your body cleaning itself out. So either the Tea I bought is working well and keeping things moving through my bowels, or I really didn’t have that much crap to remove. The next day or two will yet show otherwise.
Although I don’t feel hungry, it is amazing how much every scrap of food I see seems to look more delicious than before. Hopefully I can enjoy eating again, especially if I do a better job at quitting smoking.

lemonade day 2

September 7th, 2007 by bowaikit

Well I had the day off and ended up sleeping a lot. I was hoping to go jogging but after the first day being low on energy I decided not to push myself too far yet. However I did manage to do my weight lifting in the evening.
Smoking was another story. I should just throw them away if I don’t want to smoke, but I didn’t want to waste. So I am going to finish what’s left of this pack first. I know lame excuse, but I still haven’t found myself a big enough excuse to quit.

New mission!

September 6th, 2007 by bowaikit

Well, last months attempt at no alcohol lasted only about 10 days, haha! But at least I kept the exercise going! However, Angela brought to my attention a detox called "Master Cleanse or the Lemonade Diet". I did my research online and ordered and read the book.
Today is the first day of ten on this detox diet. For 10 days I only drink a concoction of lemon juice, maple syrup, water and chili powder. While searching online I saw quite a variety of how hard the diet gets around the 5th-6th day, but I am determined to see it through for the health benefits. And I will try to chronicle my adventures.
So after a big night out before going on the plan I went to work with my first bottle of lemonade. I quickly finished the bottle and realized that I should have brought at least 2, as one was not enough for 5 hours. Instead I drank a lot of water to keep my stomach feeling full. But by the end of workday I was feeling low on power and really craving a smoke. But then I got home made a new bottle and all was fine again.

Dsc00033 On Day 5 I had the pleasure of working with this beautiful aspiring actress. HK may not be right for her, but she is definitely full of talent.
